Vienna: Still a just City?

To reflect on the challenges of Vienna's socially inclusive approach together with practitioners, administrators, policy makers, local and international academics, the conference will feature:

// Opening session with keynotes on recent challenges to justice in cities and scenarios of changes in European cities

​​// Workshops discussing challenges of social inclusion in the fields of labour market, housing, environment, and political participation

// A plenary session addressing specific Viennese challenges in a wider European and international context

// A closing session with a political representative of the City of Vienna

International Speakers

International renowned scholars will bring a comparative perspective to the conference. They will discuss Vienna's specific challenges in a larger European and international context.

Book announcement

At the conference, the open access book "Vienna: Still a Just City", edited by Yuri Kazepov and Roland Verwiebe, will be presented. Currently the book is in press by Routledge and will be made available for download here as soon as it is published.

Other events of interest

Kick-off event of the interdisciplinary research platform “The Challenge of Urban Futures” on 5 October 2021 in the evening.
From 6 to 10 October 2021 the Urbanize Festival will host very interesting performances, walks and talks focusing on “Strategies for Transformation”.
